Foolish Pride - Lessons Taken Day 2

What is pride?/ Foolish Pride

Have you ever really looked up the meaning? If not, here's your chance ..

Let's go!

The quality or state of being proud: as -inordinate self esteem : conceit : a reason or justifiable self respect: delight or elation arising from some act, possession, or relationship <parental pride> : proud or disdainful behavior or treatment - disdain

A. Being able to work again gave him his pride back.
B. Getting caught cheating stripped him of his pride.
C. Pride would not allow her to give up.

Synonyms: Ego, Pridefulness, Self Esteem, Self-Regard, Self Respect
Antonyms : Humbleness, Humility, Modesty

Here are some wise quotes and should be taken very seriously.. After reading I would hope you would not question why?

A. When a man is wrapped up in himself, he makes a pretty small package. {John Ruskin}

B. Many a bee has been drowned in his own honey. {Author Unknown}

C. He who pats himself on the back may dislocate his shoulder. { Author Unknown}

D. Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. It is better to live humbly with the poor than to share plunder with the proud. {Proverbs 16:18-19}

E. If you have been a fool by being proud or plotting evil, don't brag about it- cover your mouth with your hand in shame. { Proverbs 30:32 },

Now after reading the above, it is not harmful or wrong to feel proud of oneself but when it goes to our head, it can become damaging to our health and well being.. "A danger foreseen is half avoided". I believe Thomas Fuller said this. I have visited this place of foolish pride many times throughout my adult life. And it isn't really that flattering as many of my friends have told me. When you become stuck on your accomplishments and looks, there is not much more to you at the end of the day as I would soon find out; as my own life unraveled right before my eyes. I'll tell you more tomorrow..
