Recovery from any addiction can be a long process and sometimes look and feel as if there is no end in sight. I am here to tell you, there is an end in sight and it is very
possible with the right tools and guidance. Having had prior addictions myself, I can honestly say there is hope for you too. It can become overwhelming and slipping back into an addiction is something you may or may not experience. Don't get discouraged, it happens to many of us. Try and try again! No one tells you; when you first try a drug, have a drink, or you gamble, etc. that you may become addicted to it. No tells you; how you may hurt others around you in your addiction. How you begin to feel like you can't ( live) or (function) without it. It actually triggers your brain and body into believing you need it to feel normal and satisfied. No one tells you ; about the pain and shame that comes with addiction. No one tells you ; you may lose your life..
I have posted the twelve steps in the past and believe you need to work on everyone of them to bring closure to your addiction, and the hurt you may have caused to others in your life, No matter what.. Find someone that you trust and that will support you through this. Rehab should never be off the table. Some people have tried everything but rehab. Don't be ashamed if nothing else has worked and you need to seek that path. I respect those of you doing whatever it takes to become healthy and functional. I do have several resources for those of you who are considering rehab.
It's never to late to change! It's never to late to change! It's never to late to change! Yes, I do believe anyone has the ability to change and with time, those you hurt can be healed, but it starts with you! One step at a time.Today is a new day, embrace it with every breath that you take in and breath out.
